Our Hosts: Oslo Airport and Avinor

Avinor is responsible for planning , developing and operating 46 airports in Norway, 12 in cooperation with the armed forces. Avinor is responsible for maintaining the correct security level at all airports and is dedicated to limiting environmentally harmful emissions and reducing aircraft noise.

Norway’s main airport, Oslo Airport (OSL ), operated by Avinor, has been named Europe’s most punctual airport four times by the AEA (Association of European Airlines). OSL lies in the municipality of Ullensaker, approximately 47 kilometres north of Oslo. The airport has a strong environmental profile and focuses on public transport to and from the airport. Oslo Airport will soon reach full capacity and an extension of the airport is underway. Construction work on the terminal extension – which has been branded T2 – started in April 2011 and it is expected to continue until the spring of 2017, at which point the airport’s capacity and facilities will be significantly enhanced. This extension is part of the airport’s growth strategy to increase capacity from around 19 million passengers in 2010 to a planned level of 28 million for the first phase. Every element of the project is designed to enhance the ability to process passengers quickly, in order to minimise waiting times and increase passenger comfort in the terminal building. In addition to improved check-in areas and security stations, the new terminal will present new departure and arrival areas that offer improved passenger services, new food and drink outlets and passengers will be presented with an additional 12,000sqm of retail space. This expansion provides much opportunity with regards to retail development, making Oslo Airport the perfect host for this year’s conference.
